Project Overview

The new Georgetown County Detention Center is a $65 million public safety facility designed to support the county's growing needs while enhancing security, operational efficiency, and inmate care. Located on Browns Ferry Road, the facility will replace the existing detention center and increase capacity from approximately 130 to 250 inmates.

Designed with modern correctional standards in mind, the facility will feature advanced security systems, dedicated medical housing areas, separate inmate classifications, secure intake and booking spaces, and individual recreation yards. The campus will also include additional support facilities for law enforcement training, the Coroner's Office, and inmate reentry programs, creating a comprehensive public safety complex that will serve Georgetown County for years to come.
